Acceptable Use Policy

Rules for the safe, lawful and authorised use of RemoteViewer.

Last updated: 18 August 2026

1. Purpose of this policy

This Acceptable Use Policy sets out the rules that apply when using RemoteViewer, including RemoteViewer technician applications, client applications, browser services, mobile applications, customer-portal functionality and remote-access features.

This policy forms part of the RemoteViewer Terms & Conditions and applies to all users, technicians, account holders and organisations using RemoteViewer.

2. Authorised access only

RemoteViewer must only be used to access computers, mobile devices, systems, accounts and information that you are authorised to access.

You must obtain any permission or consent required before starting an attended session, accessing a device remotely or configuring a system for unattended access.

You must not use RemoteViewer to access a device merely because you are technically capable of connecting to it.

3. Prohibited uses

You must not use RemoteViewer:

  • To gain unauthorised access to another person’s computer, device, account or network.
  • To monitor or observe another person unlawfully or without required authority.
  • To steal passwords, authentication codes, payment details or confidential information.
  • To commit fraud, deception, impersonation or identity theft.
  • To install, distribute or operate malware, spyware, ransomware, keyloggers or other malicious software.
  • To damage, delete, encrypt, corrupt or alter data without authority.
  • To interfere with or disrupt systems, services, networks or devices without permission.
  • To evade access controls, security measures or authentication requirements unlawfully.
  • To perform unauthorised vulnerability scanning, exploitation or penetration testing.
  • To use RemoteViewer as part of phishing, social engineering or technical-support scams.
  • To facilitate harassment, stalking, intimidation, coercion or unlawful surveillance.
  • To access or distribute unlawful material.
  • To infringe another person’s intellectual-property, privacy or data-protection rights.
  • To disguise the origin or identity of malicious or unauthorised activity.
  • To use RemoteViewer in violation of applicable law or regulation.

4. Remote-support scams

RemoteViewer must never be used to deceive a person into providing access to their computer, financial accounts, passwords, payment-card information or other sensitive information.

You must not falsely claim to represent RemoteViewer, a bank, government department, technology company, internet provider, employer or another organisation in order to obtain remote access.

Accounts suspected of being used for technical-support fraud or similar abuse may be immediately restricted while the activity is investigated.

5. Unattended access

Unattended access must only be configured on devices for which you or your organisation has authority to establish ongoing remote access.

You must remove or disable unattended access when your authority to access the device ends.

You must not use unattended access to secretly maintain persistence on a device that you are no longer permitted to support.

6. Remote commands and administration

Where RemoteViewer provides remote commands or administrative functionality, those capabilities must only be used for legitimate support, maintenance and administration of authorised systems.

You must not use remote-command functionality to execute malware, disable security controls without authority, establish unauthorised persistence, extract credentials or perform destructive actions unrelated to legitimate support.

Technicians are responsible for understanding the commands they execute and the effect those commands may have on remote systems.

7. File operations

RemoteViewer file operations must only be used to access, upload, download, move, rename or delete files that you are authorised to handle.

You must not knowingly transfer malware, stolen information, unlawful material or confidential data that you do not have authority to access or disclose.

You are responsible for checking the impact of deleting, replacing or moving important files before performing those actions remotely.

8. Account and credential security

You must take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised access to your RemoteViewer account.

Technician passwords, authentication codes, recovery information and authenticated sessions must not be knowingly shared with unauthorised people.

You should promptly remove access for technicians who no longer require RemoteViewer access or who have left your organisation.

9. Account sharing

Where RemoteViewer provides individual technician accounts or identities, technicians should use their own authorised account rather than sharing a common personal login.

You must not share accounts for the purpose of bypassing plan restrictions, concurrent-session limits, security controls or other RemoteViewer service restrictions.

10. Plan and trial abuse

You must not deliberately circumvent RemoteViewer subscription, trial or concurrent-session controls.

This includes repeatedly creating accounts, changing installation identifiers or using other technical means for the primary purpose of obtaining repeated trial entitlement.

You must not attempt to modify the RemoteViewer service or clients to obtain a greater concurrent-session entitlement than your account permits.

11. Interference with RemoteViewer

You must not knowingly interfere with the normal operation, security or availability of RemoteViewer.

Prohibited activity includes denial-of-service attacks, deliberate excessive connection attempts, automated abuse, attempts to overwhelm RemoteViewer infrastructure or attempts to exploit vulnerabilities for an unauthorised purpose.

Good-faith security research must not be performed against production RemoteViewer infrastructure without prior written authorisation.

12. Reverse engineering and tampering

Except where applicable law expressly permits otherwise, you must not reverse engineer, modify, tamper with or circumvent security mechanisms in RemoteViewer software.

You must not create or distribute modified RemoteViewer clients intended to impersonate genuine RemoteViewer software, bypass service restrictions or undermine RemoteViewer security.

13. Privacy and personal information

Remote support can expose personal, confidential and commercially sensitive information stored or displayed on another device.

You must only access information that is reasonably necessary for the authorised support task and must handle that information in accordance with applicable privacy, confidentiality and data-protection requirements.

You must not use information seen during a support session for an unrelated or unauthorised purpose.

14. Organisations are responsible for their technicians

Organisations using RemoteViewer are responsible for the actions of technicians and users operating through their RemoteViewer account.

Organisations should ensure that technicians are appropriately trained, authorised and subject to suitable internal access controls.

Access should be reviewed when roles change and removed where a technician no longer requires RemoteViewer access.

15. Security investigations

RemoteViewer maintains security and session audit information to help operate and protect the service.

Where we reasonably suspect fraud, account compromise, unauthorised remote access, malicious activity or another serious breach of this policy, we may review relevant account, authentication, device and session information.

Information may be preserved or disclosed where reasonably necessary to protect RemoteViewer or another person, investigate abuse, establish legal rights or comply with applicable law.

16. Suspension and enforcement

We may restrict or suspend access where we reasonably believe an account, technician or device connection is being used in breach of this policy.

Serious cases involving suspected fraud, malware, technical-support scams, unauthorised access, deliberate security attacks or other malicious activity may result in immediate suspension.

Repeated or serious violations may result in account termination in accordance with the RemoteViewer Terms & Conditions.

17. Reporting suspected abuse

If you believe RemoteViewer is being used to access a device without permission, commit fraud, operate a technical-support scam or perform another malicious activity, please report it to us.

Include any useful information you have, such as the date and approximate time of the activity, relevant account or technician information and details of what occurred.

18. Changes to this policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy as RemoteViewer develops, where new functionality creates additional security considerations or where legal or operational requirements change.

The date shown at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated.
